Excellent story, Craig, and a great book recommendation, too. Letters to a Stoic by Seneca should be required reading.

I'm enjoying Tao of Jeet Kune Do by Bruce Lee right now. I feel the urge to go through some of my belongings and give most of them away...

Great story but I'll have to tell ya, my first thought when I got this Sunday was, "What kind of man is blogging about happy feelings in a coffee shop during the most watched tv show in tv history???"

Oh, a man without a tv.

Interesting, but I think you left out the .90 cent bottles of brandy the SWAG liked to consume in place of gatorade. I do have one correction to make you said banca boat, the proper spelling is banka not banca. Simple mistake just correct that and I think you have a winner. Now go ahead with the book I know you have enough material!

What an experience! Very nice post. Except for the toilet it seems like you were in heaven! I think simplicity is definately missing these days. One reason I feel many people do not want to simplify is that then they will have to face life for what it is. It can be unnerving to discover, that things they thought important are not. That life can be uncomfortable not cosy. I think a lot of people will feel empty if they discover how little you actually need. Its so easy to numb your mind for a couple of hours in front of the TV. And there are so many gadgets. And cosmetics :)! Also food is one area where people do not want simplicity. Each meal has to be a gourmet treat or at least very tasty.

@JB

Yeah, I think we left the brandy but we did painstakingly cushion a case of that god-awful San Miguel beer like a box of easter eggs and bring it out there with us.

Despite your illustrious education in the world of liberal arts and pirate dodging, I believe that I'm correct on the spelling of banca. Google it.

You know what makes that story even better? It's knowing that while Paparazzi and I were screwing off you guys had two weeks of misery and broken boats. When you picked us up off the island, wasn't that the night that the Mk V guys sucked their mooring lines into their jets and started something on fire?

@Neal,

I actually forgot all about the super bowl. I was in the grocery store later that day trying to figure out why some woman had a horseshoe painted on her face.
