I would like to say I am an elite athlete. Sadly, I am not. I would like to say that I watch every calorie that enters my body and that is why I have a sculpted physique. That also wouldn’t be true.
What I can say is that I am a middle-aged man with multiple shoulder surgeries, a back that reminds me that I didn’t take care of it, two teenaged sons and a college aged daughter that I love dearly and just want to keep up with. Couple that with high blood pressure and a decision to make a lifestyle change needed to be inevitable for me.
So, I started working out with the Barefoot crew in December. The workouts are very relative to your ability, and I’ve found the instructors to be not only professional and knowledgeable in training aspects but also extremely personable to every person working out in the Barefoot Gym- they meet you where you are at physically.
Since I have started working out, I have lost weight, my elevated blood pressure has dropped to healthy levels, my clothes that I didn’t fit comfortably into now fit well and my back feels amazing! Not to mention that my kids now need to work to keep up with me!
I credit Barefoot and the discipline of working out with like-minded people at the gym for this turn around in my life. I may never be an elite athlete, but I sincerely enjoy the coaches, people and workouts at Barefoot and they are helping me attain a more active and healthier lifestyle!
